Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers understand a sport, a feature of how games work or a custom that gives them meaning. Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial question option.
What to pitch
We are interested in clear explanations of rules and formats, thoughtful comparisons, sporting history, tactical concepts and the ways people watch or take part. A strong idea has a defined subject and a reader question at its centre; it does not need to cover an entire sport.
What makes a useful proposal
Tell us the working title, the main point you want readers to understand and why the subject rewards a closer look. Include a brief outline and any relevant experience or material that helps us assess the pitch. Avoid unsupported claims, promotional copy and subjects that require professional advice.
Sending a pitch
Use the Contact page to share your proposal and include the best way to reply. A pitch is a proposal, not a commission; please wait for a response before preparing a full article. Do not include confidential or sensitive information.
The game is more than its score
Sport becomes easier to follow when we notice its structures and habits. We explain those details without assuming you already know the jargon.
